Standing 10 metres, the William Sinclair Memorial Cross was the idea of William Sinclair, a local resident who, in 1966, "wanted to bring a little light to the community". They originally planned to illuminate it at Christmas and Easter, however, funding provided by the Stoney Creek Knights of Columbus has ensured that the cross has been illuminated nightly since 1991.
The plaque on the cross reads:
“Keeper of the Cross”
William Sinclair (1925-1994)
an Elder in
Cheyne Presbyterian Church
Stoney Creek
Together with two other
Ontario Hydro Linemen(sic)
he planned and erected
the cross on
Dec. 18, 1966.
