Springhill Falls is a 5m high, 1m wide horsetail ribbon cascade located beside Hwy 8 on the climb up from the north end of Dundas.
Its problem was that in winter it would overwhelm the drains and spill out onto the road. The combination of the steep descent, the hairpin bend, the drop onto the railway tracks and the road covered in black ice was just too much for some drivers, so, at vast expense, the City diverted it into a culvert from just upstream of the crest and it now emerges through the cliff face above the railway tracks.
